Unique Christmas Gifts: Mechanic and Specialty Automotive Shops

Updated: Jan 1

You've been working on your car all year, sometimes the work has been easy and other times well its

all you can do to not toss in the towel and sell the car. Better yet, it's been a rough day and your stress release is working on the car or going out for a joy ride. As you open up the garage door and look at your car, you remember why you paused the current project, you're broke. I know many car guys and gals who have been in this exact spot. I've been there myself. A few years ago, my family started a tradition of buying something for Christmas that we need. Almost every year for me, it's been a car part or help with paying down a bill from the mechanic shop. This year, we want to bring our tradition to you! We have asked a few trusted automotive shops if we can write a piece about them!

In the family, you are known for two things, (at least on the automotives side,) a clean car and a car guy/gal. However, on this rare instance, your car is a hot mess, both inside and out. You heard rumors

about a company called CrownKote as a solid option. CrownKote has been in business since March of 2011. Who are they? Chris for all purposes, is the owner with Justin helping. Mandy helps to run the business behind the scenes. When asked about what their goal is, they replied "to bestow upon every vehicle the royal treatment it deserves, granting them the nobility of meticulous and personalized detailing services. We pledge to enhance and safeguard the majestic beauty of each carriage that graces our royal court." Through the past 12 years, they have continued to show an unwavering commitment of quality craftsmanship,

cutting-edge techniques, and the knightly practice of vehicle-safe procedures. Over the past few years, we have had the pleasure of working with and making a few videos for them! What do they specialize in? CrownKote specializes in...cermaic coating, interior cleaning and detailing and many other options. At the end of the day, their goal is for every client to depart with a meticulously detailed carriage that not only gleams but also radiates a sparkle, giving the driver a renewed sense of pride and admiration.

You've been working on the project car all year and have hit a bump in the road. Research isn't

helping this time, and talking with the mechanic in the family yields no help. Christmas

morning, you open up one of your presents and it has a simple piece of paper in it with the message

and picture of your car (which shop am I going to?) After asking, you send an email to After Hours Autosport's. Who is After Hours Autosport's? Justin Chestnutt opened this shop in 2017. Since opening this shop, they have grown as a company. When they aren't working, they can be found at Drift events, both on the pro side and local drift events found in Colorado. Bob Chestnutt is the Crew Chief and does all the backend work for the shop. When asked about the shop, "We are pursuing excellence by learning from the best in Formula Drift and supplying that expertise to our customers. Whether it be in driving skills, parts

selection, technical support, or fabrication we are the source for everything drift from beginner to FD Pro. We serve as the interface from the grassroots programs to Formula Drift for our customers and the area of the country we serve." After Hours Autosports is known in the automotive community for great mechanic work and of course local and pro drifting events.

A big car event is coming up and you enrolled your car to be in the show competing with other cars. It's a month before the event and you are double checking the exterior for any scratches, paint

splotches or discoloration and horror, you found some massive discoloration and some scratches. Family hears about it and understands the importance of the event. Someone casually asks you which vinyl wraps, paint protection films and window tint shop you prefer, you mention Sterling Customs. Austin and Hannah own Sterling's Customs and have for the past 10 years since Austin opened it. After chatting with the owners a bit, we discovered that

this year, 2023, celebrates the 10 year anniversary of Sterling Customs and honors Austins childhood best friend Sterling who passed in a tragic car accident. This shop is one big way they honor that friendship and keep his legacy alive through their mutual passion for cars. They are both believers in quality and keeping their customers happy and it always helps that their work and reputation in the car scene speaks for them! Sterling Customs is known by many in the automotive scene, for quality work, great selection, and hard workers. We have known this company for a few years now and have considered using them ourselves for future vinyl wraps.

Colorado is home to many fabulous mechanic shops and specialty automotive shops. We chose these 3 businesses specifically due to their reputation, honest work and quality that they put forth daily. If you have any interest in these shops, they can be found on Facebook, Instagram and individual websites! There are also links for their websites provided in each of their sections. We hope, that this blog helps you decide on a possible business to support during the holiday season and maybe a Christmas present or two under the tree for you!
